From Sue:
Frank caught Tundie at 5 AM today. We knew he was sleeping under the Reston National Club House so he went over and cornered him this morning while he was sleeping. Frank got a couple of nips, but as soon as he got the leash on Tundie, the dog relaxed and jumped right into the truck to ride home. As soon as I walked into the house he threw himself at me and has been welded to my side ever since, mostly curled up next to me on the couch where he is toasty warm and loved. He is very glad to be home!
He is in very good condition, a little thin, not ravenously hungry, and no signs of frostbite or hypothermia. He does have a little limp. We will take him to the vet a little later to have him checked out just to make sure that he has no serious physical issues resulting from his walkabout.
The picture is from the cell phone, not good, but I wanted to share it with all of you who have been so wonderfully supportive through our ordeal. Each and everyone of you is a blessing in our lives and I will never be able to thank you enough!
More will follow when we are all well rested and able to think clearly.
With love and affection,
Sue, Frank, and Tundie

Sue this is so wonderful, tears are streaming down my face. Your precious boy is home again, warm and safe. I don't think Tundie will ever venture off again. Another Chelsea moment, when I got her back I was going to take my other dog for a walk, about 1/2 way down the street I heard my mom shouting for her. I turned around and she was running after me. After some time she knew I would always come back.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you all..stay warm and safe.
Much Love and wet kisses,
Amy and Angel Thunder (Bunny)

ReplyDeleteTears of happiness here too...
ReplyDeleteBless you Sue and Frank, for your perseverance and love, and all that you've done to get your boy back :-) and you, Nancy, for the tremendous organizational and communication network you created with the blog and everything else. And bless each and every person who read the blog and helped in so many ways, from encouragement with personal stories of other dogs who have been lost and found, to reporting sightings, setting up food stations, and walking dogs and looking for a big dark sable boy who might want to come to them.
That picture is the happiest ending possible. In this day and age it is so amazing to see the love that humans are capable of.
And bless you, Thunder. So glad you are home. :-) The new year can finally start out right for your first Mom, Sandy.
Bless you too, Sandy. Now go to sleep!
All of the staff at Dogma Bakery in Arlington is so happy for your family and Tundie. We got the email about him last night and just talked this morning about how we could help - and we are so very happy that it's not needed. Please feel free to bring him by the store for some treats on us to celebrate his homecoming! Thank you for not giving up hope!
ReplyDeleteI am so very, very happy he's home!! Here in PA it's been so very cold and I was quite worried about him. My brother lives in Centreville and said it was just as cold down there. A Happy Happy Day!!! Bless you all!

Although my family and I live in Pennsylvania, we have been following your blog and praying for Thunder daily. We were lucky enough to get one of his puppies, and of course, had to give her a huge hug when we heard the news!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear he's finally back home.

WooHoooooooooo! Sharing tears of joy with you...
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I have been following Tundie's unfolding adventure for the duration and are thrilled he's back home, warm and safe. We wanted so much to help with the search effort but live in Pennsylvania. We have one of Sandy's pups from Thunder/Blossom pairing, so really felt a connection. Our hearts were with you all the way!!!! You never gave up! Rest, relax and enjoy your big baby... home at last!!!!
I am so excited for you. I am in Massachusetts and have one of Tundie's daughters from a Thunder/Lily Bug pairing. My family and I would follow the status of the search every day praying he would find his way back to you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. Lots of hugs, kisses and snuggles.

I am so happy to hear that he is home and safe. I have been following your blog since I found out Thunder was missing. I follow Sandy's website because I have one of her puppies as well and I have always thought Thunder was beautiful and after finding out he was missing I was heart broken. I was checking your blog several times a day and hoping to read that he was home and safe. This news has made my day I am very happy for you guys and happy that Thunder is safe and out of this cold weather.
ReplyDeleteI actually spoted Thunder the first week (behind Carlisle Drive), and have been following the search and keeping my eyes posted ever since. I was torn about checking the blog after the holiday weekend, as time was passing by it was getting unbearable for me to continue see that he was still "out there". I had all the confidence in the world that if a dog was going to be found - Thunder was the dog. I finally checked the blog today and I am soooooo excited to see the good news!
