Wednesday Morning Status

Update from Sue on Wednesday morning:

No luck at the trap last night. We will trip it tonight but leave food. Tomorrow we will move the trap over to where the sightings are consistently coming in. It will be a very quiet are until Monday when everyone returns to work, and much easier to monitor. And we have the property owner's permission to do what it takes to capture him.

An additional tactic being taken is to put out an appeal for anyone with a bitch in heat to provide urine soaked rags that can be used to strengthen the luring properties of the trap. Please contact Sue at 703-568-5879 if you can help with this.

Update Wednesday evening:  a female in heat has been found, and hopefully those scent pads will be available for pickup really soon. And hopefully other offers will come in too. We're not sure we can have too many.

  1. Also check with local vets--they might be able to get in touch with a client who has a girl in heat.

  2. First I find it strange that his tracking isn't in a circle, starting in the center and then getting larger, he is going straight.....Try leaving family scented clothing, a favorite toy or bedding near where Thunder is roaming, to let him know you are searching for him. Leave out some of his favorite food and see if someone can hide in the area and wait for him. Try having people sit in chair near the areas, but be still and quiet, this is what I did the day I got Chelsea back. Have people who are searching for him and spot him lay on the ground, flat on their backs, with a treat in hand till he approaches and gains trust. This is some of what I did when my sheltie was gone for 2 months. Also call all Vets, Rescues, Schools, local police departments, borough halls, German Shepherd Rescue, local newspapers, radio and TV stations. Post fliers in food stores, telephone polls, and anywhere they will give you permission. Does Thunder have a best Furry Friend he would always play with, bring them along on the search as well. I also used an Animal Communicator by the name of Marlene Sandler located in Warrington, PA. (215) 491-0707 She is 100% and helped me get Chelsea back, this was about 10 years ago but I believe she is still working. I feel your heart ache as I lost my beloved Long Haired Shepherd, also named Thunder, to Lymphoma at the age of 4 years on
8-22-2009. You are in my thoughts and prayers for the safe return of your baby boy Thunder.

  3. Was unable to accomplish much fliering this evening. Snowbanks were too high and traffic was too heavy. Took advantage of some red lights on my errands to hop out and post a quick flier here and there. At least 2 were at major intersections. Only 4 new fliers posted this evening.
